Grassmoor Fun Day

Grassland Hasmoor… Big Local Grassmoor Fun day 2019

Saturday 6th July, Barnes Park, Grassmoor marked the 5th annual GHBL Grassmoor Fun Day. The event is organised by volunteers who give up their time each year to ensure that the village holds an event that is fun packed and enjoyed by both local residents and those from further afield. Although the morning didn’t show promise with heavy showers early on, the clouds eventually cleared providing a lovely warm day.

There were lots of different things to try with plenty of Community stalls to visit whilst listening to The Grits, a live band who hail from South Yorkshire and who played rock and pop hits from across the decades. For the children, a traditional Punch and Judy show enthralled crowds all afternoon. In the Pavilion Grassmoor Past and Present held a small local history exhibition whilst visitors were enticed by scrumptious chocolate cake and other refreshments.

The events committee had provided free activities including face painting, bouncy castles & Laser Tag and in partnership with Rykneld a hands on slime making activity for the younger community members to enjoy.

In addition, White Post farm provided a very ‘hands-on’ experience for all the family   with a variety of animals on show.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, to our sponsors and to all the volunteers who helped with organising, setting up and clearing away, without whom, this event would not have been possible.

A great example of the community spirit that exists in Grassmoor!
