Living Environment Working Group

The Living Environment Working Group's aim is to make the village centres more attractive for local people and visitors.  By developing projects such as seasonal themed planting schemes and working with local businesses, they want to promote Grassmoor and Hasland's existing offer and attract new interest from outside the area from both visitors and inward investment.

The group's first project to provide Christmas Trees to retailers in the villages has been very popular and well supported (see article below) and plans are already being made for summer flowering displays.

Christmas Trees Add Extra Sparkle

The Living Environment Working Group teamed up with retailers in Grassmoor and Hasland to provide them with Christmas Trees to bring some extra sparkle to the seasonal decorations in the villages.  The decorated trees were on display over the winter to give a warm welcome to local people and visitors.

Working Group member, Janet Ray, whose idea was behind the scheme said " We wanted to help retailers make the shop fronts in the villages look festive and welcoming to all."

Businesses that displayed trees are: HASLAND Andy's Fish Bar, Blade Barbers, De Niro's Takeaway, Don Noble Betting Office, Eyecatchers, Greenside Family Butchers, Hasland Chiropody, Hasland Discounts Ltd, Hasland Pet Supplies, Hasland Xchange, Hi Q, Just For You, Kate's Pantry, LEL Computing, Lite Bites, Lloyds Pharmacy, LouLou's Hairdressers, Mary Poppins Day Nursery, Masons Coffee House, Nhance, One Stop Stores Ltd, Perfection Weddings & Parties, Poise Hairdressing, Pro-Cutz, Rock Paper Scissors Hair Salon, Scooter Infinity, Sensory Heaven, Sweets & Treats, The Village Pizza House and CBC at Hasland Village Hall.
